Our Favorite Fall Activities in Stafford

Fall Activities in Stafford

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The weather is perfect for being outside, the leaves are beautiful, and there’s so much to do! Whether you are taking a trip as a family to the pumpkin patch or going on a romantic hike, Stafford is the perfect place to be this time of year. Here are some of my favorite fall activities in Stafford:

Fall Festival

One of my favorite fall activities in Stafford is the Fall Family Festival. This annual event is put on by the city and it’s always a blast! Happening October 1st at John Lee Pratt Memorial Park from 11-4pm, the festival will have hayrides, games, food trucks, live music, and more. This is a great event for families and kids of all ages. And it’s completely free to attend! This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the Pumpkin Derby, so don’t miss out on all the fun!

Stafford Fair

Next on the list of favorite fall activities in Stafford is the Stafford County Agricultural and Homemaking Fair. This fair is the oldest fair in Stafford County and is a great way to support local agriculture and see all the amazing things Stafford has to offer. With rides, games, food, petting zoos, and more, there is something for everyone at the Stafford Fair. This years fair will take place from October 13th through October 16th so be sure to stop by and enjoy all the fair has to offer.

Fredtober Fest

I am extremely excited about this event that should definitely be added to your list of fall activities in Stafford! Presented by 6 Bears & A Goat Brewing Company, the first annual one-of-a-kind authentic German-style Oktoberfest will take place on Saturday October 1st. Fredtoberfest is a community-oriented event that will be filled with great VA beer, delicious food, fun activities for all ages, ending with an amazing concert featuring local musicians.

Fredtoberfest will feature local craft beer from the Fredericksburg Area Breweries along with over 30 other Virginia craft breweries. Enjoy your brew while participating in mega games, Stein Holding Contests, Beer Stein Relays, and even more.

The George Washington National Forest

Fall is a great time to get outside and explore all that Stafford has to offer. One of our favorite things to do is go on hikes and enjoy the changing leaves. The George Washington National Forest is a great place to start, and there are plenty of trails to choose from depending on your level of experience. If you are looking for a challenge, I suggest the Mary’s Rock hike. But if you’re just looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, then any of the trails in the forest will do.

Belvedere Plantation

Pumpkin patches are a staple of fall, so it’s no surprise that one or two have made the list of fun fall activites in Stafford. One of my absolute favorite pumpkin patches in the area is Belvedere Plantation. With over 15 acres of pumpkins to choose from, a corn maze, hayrides, and more, Belvedere Plantation is the perfect place to spend a fall day. And if you get there early enough, you can even catch a glimpse of the sunrise over the plantation!

Sneads Asparagus Farm

If you’re looking for fall activites in Stafford that are little bit different, then be sure to check out Sneads Asparagus Farm. This family-owned farm has been around since the early 1900s and is now one of the only asparagus farms left in Virginia! In addition to asparagus, they also have strawberries, pumpkins, and Christmas trees. So whether you’re looking for fall produce or a Christmas tree, Sneads Asparagus Farm is the place to go.

Carter’s Mountian Orchard

Last but not least on the list of fall activities in Stafford is Carter’s Mountain Orchard. This orchard is a great place to pick your own apples, and they have a wide variety of apples to choose from. They also have a country store where you can buy local honey, apple cider, and even apple donuts! So whether you’re looking to stock up on fall produce or just want a fun day out, be sure to check out Carter’s Mountain Orchard.
